Keep the Memories, Purge the Stuff

Many people, myself included, fall prey to the dreaded problem of what to do with…stuff. Yeah, you know, the water ski you got in highschool that you used 3 times (so it still looks new and must be worth something), the Schwinn “The Sting” BMX bike (it was a limited edition I can’t just GIVE it away!), the chain saw, the brush cutter, the Armoir my ex wife painted - and countless other things upon which I have now spent more money moving them and storing them then they were ever worth and probably more money maintaining them then they would cost to replace - all for no particular purpose other than because I can’t bear to see them go.
Well, my Mom - who just happens to be a really great writer - is just getting her feet wet with blogging, and she’s put up an excellent post on this topic. It’s a tiny bit long but if you have a couple of minutes the narrative is good and the point she makes at the end worth the read.
Oh - and if anyone wants to buy a BMX bike or a water ski I just might know a guy…

An excellent resource for learning how to let go of things that no longer serve you is Dinah’s blog on Discardia, here:

Rob, I don’t even have a photo of the Sting. I’ll see if I can dig one up online and if I come across one I’ll email it to you.
