Cultured Code Responds

Given the commentary of the past few days related to the expiration date issue experienced by users of Cultured Code’s “Things” application, I felt it was only fair to call attention to their post that allows them to fully express their side of the story.
The bottom line is that they’ve acknowledged the error and admitted that perhaps they could have done a better job with the information that the expiration note provided (which is exactly what I suggested in my second post on the issue).
I’d call this one finished. The software was repaired quickly, the company took responsibility for the problem and I think I’m the only one that’s any worse for the wear in the general scheme of things. That’s OK. I’m reasonably tough and considering where I’ve worked in the past I’ve definitely taken worse beatings…

I’m sure it felt like a beating, but you are nevertheless appreciated for pointing out the high standard that is needed for “trusted systems.” I was among those who wanted to be sure Things got a fair hearing and that GTD Times remained fair, but your posts did make me realize that offering GTD solutions is not for the faint of heart. If people are going to put their “stuff” in the hands of software, that software better be good! I think that we’re going to see more around this topic as people trust more and more of their stuff to online systems (for example, how forgiving will people be when an online storage company has a glitch?). Thanks for causing me think more about this tech-culture nexus.
