I am an outlook user as well and a long term fan of Nokia phones. While they are great phones the lack of a task manager has lead me to getting a phone with windows mobile 6. In theory this should have the all essential categories from outlook. I guess my two questions would be; 1. does the windows os allow outlook to be useful on the move? I hope so? 2. If not would it be worth changing to Lotus notes?

"some competition from iPhone. (I say “some” as I have yet to find a suitable on-device sync and device management solution for iPhone, which means I won’t recommend it for use with Notes and GTD.)"

I do not use Lotus Notes, but Outlook. The iPhone syncs Outlook Calendar and Contacts, but not Tasks or Notes. This was a big limiting factor for me.

Now, however, Key Tasks is out for the iPhone (just like on Palm) and I am hoping that they will also release synching the Notes portion of Outlook.

I think that the productivity applications are starting to come with the iPhone and we'll have to have a bit of patience with both Lotus and Outlook to get it. But, the iPhone has way too much market share on smart phones to not attract what we need for GTD.

Hope it gets all the applications we need!

Right to the point, Eric. Solid software for managing lists quickly is essential for any device that claims to support GTD. My theory is that Blackberry is popular because most people are still living in their email inboxes (which don't get to zero), reacting to latest and loudest. They may keep lists, but the newest email or phone call rules their attention.
