In case you hadn’t heard, I will be hosting a free, guided GTD “Tweekly Review” through Twitter tomorrow.

What: It will be a working Twitter session. I’ll guide people through the 11-steps of the GTD Weekly Review through a series of Tweets. You’ll want to be in front of your system (at least calendar, lists, email, inboxes etc.) to take action based on the Tweets.

When: Thursday, Aug 13, 9am – 10am PDT (Los Angeles time–find your local time)

How: Follow @GTDSpecialEvent or just launch this web page during the event to follow the Tweets.

Who: Probably good to have at some basic understanding of GTD workflow model and at least a basic structure of GTD setup for yourself already.

I recently interviewed Ken Case, CEO for OmniGroup, about the ever popular OmniFocus for Mac.  You’ll hear about the history of OmniGroup, what their company culture is like today, what OmniFocus does for a GTD’er, and more.  Here’s an excerpt:  

Ken Case: The big thing that we tried to do as we were designing the application is really think about the parts of the GTD workflow that we could address, and automate those, and then maybe not try to touch the parts that didn’t make as much sense. For example, we don’t do calendaring; we leave that to whatever calendaring system you already have. I use the calendar app that’s built-in to the iPhone, but you can use a paper calendar or whatever works for you for that part of the system. We do focus on the GTD collecting and processing–capturing stuff out of your head and getting it into your inbox. We tried to make that really easy with a keystroke…

Living in an apartment in Manhattan I have very limited space, and I cannot possibly keep the amount of file cabinets that I otherwise might. Unfortunately I have been the opposite of a pack rat: I routinely discarded material, and later regretted it. Having been a horrible organizer all my life, despite full court press attempts every couple years, I basically had a box of everything “important” that I added to, and once in a while retrieved from. Then I would cull the box occasionally, and there was no space–literally–for sentimentality. [Read more →]

Paul Smalera wrote a great piece over on Slate’s The Big Money speculating if Obama were using GTD. Worth a read. You’ll even see an “Obama-ized” GTD workflow diagram. By the way, you can get free copies (basic or advanced) of the GTD Workflow Diagram from the DAC store, and the new one with an instructional Coaching DVD with David Allen is coming soon.

I’m planning on offering another free, guided GTD “Tweekly Review” for you Twitter fans.  If you missed the last one, here’s how it will work:

We received this unsolicited letter from an active GTD Connect member (“Barb” on the Forums) who was so enthusiastic about the value she gets from her membership, she wanted to share it on GTD Times.

I’ve been a GTD Connect member for just a little under two years.  I’m a Dallas-based Consultant and I DO NOT make a living from writing enthusiastic reviews on GTD or have any affiliation whatsoever to David Allen Co.  But big changes have happened at the GTD Connect site and I’m writing today because of one simple fact:  The more the merrier! Many of you were excited about the new GTD System we announced last week.  But, our international GTD’ers were disappointed to find out that it could only be shipped to US & Canada.  We’re excited to let you know that we’ve aranged to have the GTD System shipped anywhere in the world through a special link in our store.

Many of you also asked, “Are the CDs new?”  Yes, 5 out of the 6 CDs are completely new content.  One of the CDs is a popular one of Coach Meg Edwards walking through a guided Weekly Review. We thought it was so good that we included it in this new set.  But all of the other CDs are new content with David and the staff.
